I just got the Steelseries Siberias + USB sound card. I'm hearing a constant clicking type static in my ears whenever sound comes through them. It's not the headset, because it works fine with my 6 year old Soundblaster sound card. It has to be the USB sound card.

I've been searching the internet, and I can't find anything about it. Just a lot of people suggesting to uninstall the drivers. I tried that, it didn't work. I sent an email to Steelseries support and got an email back with a few suggestions. None of them worked either.

I'm about to just throw the thing away, but I thought I'd come here first. Anybody know anything about the USB Sound Card that comes with Siberias? What could be causing this?

*EDIT*

I'm using the most up to date drivers (2.1).

talking about media players... my jukebox's old HDD crashed so I have a fresh ubuntu install and now I'm hesitating whether I should reinstall Ampache or give a try to Jinzora or MediaHive.
Anyone tried one of these web players ? which one should I go with ?

i wouldnt go with the DDR2 dominators. i have the 4GB pack and they dont really overclock worth anything, but i hear the DDR3 models are legit. if you still want DDR2, i'd get gskill PI series. i would recommend the E8600 for a processor instead of the new quad cores, but that just me.

My parents' friend told my parents about KMPlayer since they watch .rmvb files and RealPlayer seems to have problems. But I love my SMPlayer since it reads almost as many codecs as VLC if I'm not mistaken, has the menu on the bottom when full screened and you can fast forward/rewind 10 seconds/30 seconds/1 minute at a time -- combines the best of VLC and WMP :p...

Hi, can somebody help me with tuning my samsung sm245b and css settings? My problem is that in some maps i can't see everything clearly (such as seeing people in the vents on de_nuke). The ingame brightness is set to the lightest, all the other graphics settings are at high. If i tune my monitor while looking at css to a setting where i can see clearly in the vents, when i minimize the screen is way too bright and the whites start to hurt my eyes

I'm using a 9800gx2 graphics card and i play at 1920x1200

Right now, i've reset all the settings on the monitor to default.

whoever said you cant run CFX on a SLI mobo (besides nvidia)?

Well I've heard it is theoretically possible to run CF on an SLI board (not that I can pretend to understand the science behind it), but I'm also pretty sure ATI don't allow Nvidia the license to do so. But, if it can be done without hacked drivers then I will have to eat a piece of this humble pie sitting beside me.

Back on topic... I need that free stuff more then you do confire :P Especially since I've been quietly informed by FPSLabs that my 8800gt is now a ticking time bomb

That's not it at all. 99% of the reason one buys nvidia based motherboards is so that they can run multiple nvidia graphics cards in SLI. You can not run two ATI cards in an nvidia board so, it has no advantage at all over a $100 P35 based motherboard, which is all I was getting at.

wOw. by your logic, it could also apply to this scenario: it would be a waste of money to buy a ATI card and use it on anything but a AMD chipset.

But that's my point, why would you pair a 4870X2 with an nvidia based board? Basically a waste of $150

I believe you're supposed to "GO GREEN" Rick... come on, think about it - global warming!

lol just kidding, but awdrpepper has a point, what's up with the 790i? I'm not gonna say they're bad, but they're not great...

So yeah, my comp is all together and all I need to do in the next few days is hope Vista 64 bit doesn't own me like 32 did. And I hope the program compatibility for 64 bit has gotten to a good range (JASON/Slapnuts you here? Since I know you have Vista 64 bit on your VeliciRaptor :P)...

well i would rather put up $549 for a considerably faster card, than go with the big failing green.

Well no doubt the e8500 will OC higher (4.4GHZ on air 4.5GHZ+ on water). The q6600 is quite capable of 3.6- 3.8GHZ on air and perhaps 4.0GHZ+ on water. As for which is 'fastest'; Most games still don't utilize 4 cores yet, and of the ones that do like cyrsis, you still won't see much of a performance gain considering how graphics dependent they are. (I barely see over 50% utilization with my e8200 in crysis)

Intels 45nm quads, although a lot more efficient then the 65nm ones, don't OC a lot higher becuase motherboard FSB limitations come into play. So a q9300 might reach 3.6 on air, a q9450 - 3.9 - 4, q9550 4.2, q9650 4.3+. Those figures don't really change when you throw water into the mix because of said motherboard limitations (All of those figures are purely estimates)

As is normally the case, you have to access what is best for you when choosing between duals and quads. Quads tend to offer greater multitasking capabilities as well as future proofing, whilst duals tend to be better for gaming at this present time, and more suitable for quiet PCs

Leadgift I've noticed that you seem to upgrade every 6 - 12 months, and if you're not prepared to go for SLI / CrossfireX at this point in time then you should seriously consider a cheaper p35 type mobo. That way as the next 6 - 12 months roll by, you will have some extra cash to get into nehalem.

And if you go for something like a P35C-DS2R you will be able to buy some DDR3 RAM which you would be able to bring into your new build at that time (assuming you are even doing that) as well as your case / PSU etc / graphics / sound..

System has listed a pretty solid build (although I'm not really sure why he included a 790i with ATI) so stick to that and you'll be doing well
